Sewage static system influence on the concentrations of nitrogen compounds in unconfined aquifers

ABSTRACT This research aimed to investigate the relation between sanitary situation and groundwater quality, using concentration of nitrogenous compounds. The aquifer studied is unconfined situated in periurban zone Fortaleza (NE Brazil). Through Geographic Information System (GIS), a relational database was created data from IBGE demographic census (2011), analyze numbers households linked septic tanks or rudimentary cesspit. quality evaluated based on nitrogen compounds (N-NH3 +; NO2 -; N-NO3 -), pH, total dissolved solids (TDS). highest concentrations nitrates are found areas with higher density Furthermore, nitrate more present water table above 6.6 m, mainly interfluvial zones, which have high oxidation potential. results contribute loss contamination, number cesspit, aquifers, were vulnerable peripheric expansions cities, where deficit sewage services tends be high.
